Mr. Danny has decided to part with his E30 BMW and move on to something a little more interesting, so a few “farewell” pictures were in order. As it would turn out shooting a black on black car was more of a challenge than I was expecting. I had every intention to bust out the pair of flashes (SB600 / SB800) and do some (finally) off camera lighting.. However a recent photo job saw the little ’600 kissing the concrete and it didn’t make it through. Oh well.
Location wise I tried a small stretch of road on Mission island, as well as the bridge. A few hooker and used needle encounters later and we decided to try somewhere else.. Trying out the new Hoya HRT circ-pol again proved some colour fringing when mixed with the Sigma 17-70, so some further testing is in order for sure.. I shot a few frames into the sun with the intention of producing some flare and some orange bokeh, though I can say it didn’t really work out as planned. Also the 70-200 is starting to wear on me in terms of bokeh so I’d like to try a shoot where I stack an out of focus (totally OOF) background with a sharp f/8 or so frame – as I am also growing a little tired of the sharp front / soft rear car shots. I’d like an in focus front to rear shot with an OOF background. Stacked images with variations from the circ-pol and maybe.. just maybe I’ll have a winner.
